In the last decade, the Aunt Nee’s chip company has become a mainstay here in Detroit.

Based in Eastern Market, the chips and salsa company started in 2008 after Patrick Schwager and his family fell on hard times.

As a way to make money, Schwager and his parents, who had always made salsa as a hobby, began selling it at farmers markets around Metro Detroit.

Today, Aunt Nee’s products can be found throughout the city and all over Michigan.

WDET’s Gus Navarro speaks with company founders Patrick Schwager and Carlos Parisi about starting the business and Detroit’s pop-up food scene.
