Detroit’s Magestik Legend has been immersed in hip hop for over twenty years.

In that time, he’s performed internationally, released multiple projects as a part of the hip hop arts collective, The Black Opera, and taught kids how to make beats and express themselves through art.

Legend’s new album, All This Time, came about when he was splitting time between California and Michigan.

WDET’s Gus Navarro spoke with Magestik Legend about and the inspiration behind the album.

As Legend tells it, he had a lot of alone time out west.

“I had this period of isolation,” he says.

When Legend was putting the album together, he stopped concerning himself with categories and would start recording whenever and idea for a song came to mind.

“I lost myself in that therapeutic moment.”
