It’s hard not to fall in love with to Detroit’s own Sam Austins

Last year, the 21-year old released his first EP, AngstHe’s now preparing for his first head-lining show at El Club this Saturday, April 7th

The show is presented by Assemble Sound and Chicago’s de facto hip hop tastemaker Fake Shore Drive

Two other Detroit standouts, Bevlove and Curtis Roach, are also set to perform.

WDET’s Ryan Patrick Hooper speaks with Austins about his debut show and what led to him pursuing music full time.

“I want to show evolution,” explains Austins. “I don’t want to be just a artist that’s…making music and that’s just it.”

The show at El Club is going to be a “whole presentation…I’ve crafted with a couple other people from the neighborhoods in Detroit,” he says.

“There will not be any set up at El Club like the one we have set up.”
