Waajeed Keeps Artistry Moving Forward
“My goal and my responsibility is to innovate,” says Waajeed.
Using infectious four-on-the-floor rhythms and uplifting chord progressions, Detroit producer Waajeed has been making heads nod and bodies shake for two decades.
Within the last five years, he’s moved back to Detroit from New York City, released multiple genre bending solo projects, collaborated with all sorts of artists, and started his own record label known as Dirt Tech Reck.
While there’s so much behind the art Waajeed creates, one thing for certain is that he always keeps it moving.
WDET’s Gus Navarro speaks with Waajeed about what drives him as an artist and what its meant to return to Detroit.
“My goal and my responsibility is to innovate,” says Waajeed.
“It’s to add something to the chain and to continue to push and plant seeds. The goal is constant motion. Keeping it moving.”
