“Detroit” will be screened in movie theaters across the country starting August 3rd, but it’s already pulling praise from critics as an intense, unforgiving look at the stories surrounding the 1967 uprising fifty years ago in the Motor City. CultureShift talked with Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal about how the film made its way to the big screen and how the experiences of Detroiters shaped the film.
