Craft Breweries in Michigan Celebrate 20-Year Milestones

Detroit News features reporter Melody Baetens looks at the breweries celebrating 20 years of hoppy pours

1997 saw a wave of craft breweries arriving in Michigan — and are still serving up suds today. Iconic local breweries like Detroit’s Atwater Brewery to Grand Rapids powerhouse Founders Brewing Co. got their start 20 years ago this year and will be celebrating this weekend at the Michigan Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti, which is also celebrating its own 20-year milestone.

CultureShift talks with Detroit News feature reporter Melody Baetens about her report on the festival and the series of milestones.
