Detroit Arts Icon Charles McGee Debuts Massive Mural Downtown

The 92-year-old Detroit artist debuts largest work yet with retrospective show in downtown Detroit

Charles McGee’s artistic career spans across seven decades, but his largest piece of work ever was just completed in downtown Detroit.

The massive 11-story mural measures 118-feet-by-50-feet. Titled “Unity,” the mural was recently finished and graces the side of a building in Capitol Park.

Library Street Collective is hosting a retrospective of McGee’s work entitled “Still Searching” to celebrate the unveiling of the mural.
