Le Rouge says ticket sales are ahead of last year’s pace.

Detroit City Football Club‘s average home attendance last season was 5,225 fans per game. That’s more than most double- and single-A minor league baseball teams. 2017 promises to be another strong year for the side fans call “Le Rouge”.
“We topped out at 7,200 last year for a match, really exceeding all but the most wild expectations,” says co-owner Alex Wright.
City renovated Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck last year, but Wright says the 80-year-old venue still needs some updates. The team plays its first home game on May 6, a friendly match against Dayton Dynamo. Le Rouge starts the 2017 slate on April 15 with an exhibition contest at Saginaw Valley State University.
The slate includes a friendly against Glentoran FC of Northern Ireland, a team which once played in Detroit.
