A pop-up enrollment site for the Detroit’s municipal identification system is coming to Lasky Recreation Center on Thursday.

To get a Detroit ID card, applicants must provide documents that show proof of residency or identification.

City Council Member Scott Benson says each document is worth a certain number of points that will go toward the application process.

“If you have an elector identification card, then that is 200 points. If you have an offender tracking information system record, that’s 200 points. An employer ID card would be 75 points,” Benson says.

Benson says card seekers need 300 points to get a municipal ID. He says there are a number of options to prove identity for the program.

Benson says Detroiters should make an appointment to guarantee their spot in line.
