Oldest Detroit Community Theater Group Considers Venue Change
Park Players will try drawing audiences to Redford Theater
A theater group that calls itself the oldest in Detroit is considering a change of venue. The (North Rosedale) Park Players have been performing plays at the neighborhood community house on Detroit’s northwest side since the mid-1930’s.
But increasing costs and a renovation of the building have forced the community association to significantly increase the rent paid by the theater group.
Carly Ptak is a member of the Park Players Board of Directors. She tells WDET’s Amy Miller that for the upcoming performance of Sister Act the troupe will hold its final weekend of performances at the Redford Theater in an effort to raise revenue.
