New Group Advocates for Lower Auto Insurance Rates in Detroit
The Detroit Alliance for Fair Auto Insurance wants to guarantee low rates for Detroit drivers.
A group of Detroit officials and community leaders have joined together to demand lower car insurance prices for Detroiters.
The Detroit Alliance for Fair Auto Insurance wants insurers to stop basing premiums on factors that do not relate to driving ability.
Pastor Darrell Reed of the Spirit of Love Church is a member of the alliance. He says credit scores should not affect insurance rates.
“Credit scores does not tell the story,” Reed said. “It does not tell the story when it comes down to apply for insurance whether they are a safe driver or whether they are a dangerous driver.”
The alliance says it will host a series of town hall meetings beginning in May to educate residents about the current no-fault system.
They say they will also advocate in Lansing to make sure lawmakers hear from rate payers.
