Detroit Donors Sought for Breast Tissue Bank

Minority Women Are Especially Encouraged to Donate

The Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit is looking for area women to come in for a procedure to donate their healthy breast tissue on Saturday, Sept. 24. The tissue is being collected for the Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. WDET’s Laura Herberg sat down with Michele Cote, Ph.D., an Associate Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University and the Karmanos Cancer Institute to learn why these organizations are partnering to obtain healthy breast tissue, especially from minority women, here in Detroit.
