Two Nights of X: Punk Icons Play First 2 Records Over 2 Nights at El Club
John Doe from the band X talks his about new solo record, memoir, and two-day throwdown in Detroit
Three decades after the punk movement gave birth to the band X in southern California, the songs continue to stand on firm ground, the messages remain relevant, and the sonic influences resonate with millions ears across the globe.
Now, a very special engagement: Over the course of two nights, this Saturday (Aug. 21st) and Sunday (Aug. 22nd ) X is coming to Detroit’s newest rock venue, El CLub, to perform their first two iconic records, Los Angeles and Wild Gift.
X is co-founded by John Doe, who also has a new solo psych-rock record out called The Westerner, as well as a memoir about the early L.A. punk scene.
He spoke about it all with WDET’s Travis Wright (find a video of his favorite X song below).
