“Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale drops some knowledge on aspiring Detroit techno DJs
One of the leading ladies of the Detroit techno scene, Stacey “Hotwaxx”Hale is a veteran spinner of records (yes, real vinyl albums) as well as a celebrated producer of various electronica sub-genres.
It’s easy to dance when she’s behind the deck, and it’s just as easy to get lost on her SoundCloud page. You’ve been warned! But, really, you should check her out live. You have plenty of opportunities (see below).
Wanting to ensure the next generation of Detroit deejays comes correct, she headed-up a DJ intensive workshop this week at the Detroit Institute of Music Education.
Hale spoke with WDET’s Travis Wright about a few lessons all aspiring deejays need to learn.
