Anderson .Paak

Comin Up on Culture City, Detroit has hosted the socially progressive Allied Media Conference for ten years now.  This year, it aligns with the First Women in Hip-Hop Conference. We’ll hear about what’s planned for the event and listen to a little Anderson .Paak (playing this Sunday at St. Andrews) featuring Rapsody (performing next week at the conference).

We’re going to hear about an upcoming Bowie Ballet, produced by Detroit’s Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and New York’s famous Complexions Contemporary Ballet (peep the video below).

We’ll listen to music throughout the hour from bands playing this weekend’s Everyone I Owe music fest at the Loving Touch in Ferndale, including new tunes from the ever-awesome Fawnn and The High Strung, as well as some scene faves who are reuniting especially for this two night event, such as Illy Mack and The Satin Peaches. Detroit MC Mister (of local duo Passalacqua) swings through to school us on the Rap Round Robin, which hits The Marble Bar tonight.

Jamin Townsley

First, we’ll kick things off with a song from Cat Power, dedicated Ali and Gordie, a couple of the greatest greats of all time.
