Travis Gonyou is a spokesperson for the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan. He says the express routes will eliminate the need for passengers to transfer buses when crossing city boundaries.

“And Gratiot and Woodward face that challenge as well, especially throughout the day,” Gonyou says. “So what we are looking at here is an express service with limited stops so it’s going to get you direct, from city to suburbs or suburbs to city.”

Gonyou says the express routes will be used as a test for the Regional Transit Authority’s master plan to connect the suburbs and the city on all routes. The RTA will hold two workshops this week to get feedback and ideas from riders.
