New Orleans by way of Detroit by way of Lagos, Nigeria, Tunde Wey is a writer, cook and cultural instigator who’s taking his pop-up restaurant on the road. Sponsored by OKAY Africa, his From Lagos restaurant concept is traveling to cities across the country as the “Blackness in America” dinner series. We’ll hear what Wey hopes to accomplish with the event and hear some afrobeat jams from Lagos … and Ann Arbor (yes, really).
David “Hump the Grinder” Humphries has been producing an event called Hair Wars for 33 years. We’ll catch up with the man himself and listen to music from some of music’s most iconic hair-dos, including hits from Little Richard and Bob Marley, but also a deep-cut Jimi Hendrix cover of a Muddy Waters jam.
