So Don’t Start a Sentence This Way

Lake Superior State University list banishes overused or misused words and phrases.

So, the most nominated entry on this year’s list of “banished” words from Lake Superior State University is–“so”, specifically when it’s used to start a sentence. The school in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. has been publishing its tongue-in-cheek list of overused and misused words for more than 40 years. Spokesperson Tom Pink tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller this is not the first time “so” has made the cut.
