DNR to Increase Snowmobile Noise Enforcement

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is cracking down on snowmobile noise violations this winter.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources cracking down on noisy snowmobiles this winter. Conservation officers will conduct decibel-level testing while on patrol.

Corporal John Morey says residents who alter the exhaust and mufflers on their snowmobiles risk being too noisy.

“Keep them stocked with factory parts. Most, if not all, snowmobiles that leave the factory are in compliance with legal decibel levels in Michigan,” Morey says. 

Morey says there are more than 6,000 miles of snowmobile trails in Michigan.
