Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan unveiled the Neighborhood Business Directory this week. The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce partnered with city officials to develop the guide.

Duggan says the directory gives visibility to overlooked business in Detroit.

“We all know that every time a new entity comes to town, starts a business, they get a lot of attention they get written up,” Duggan says. “And then they end up in the New York Times. But what about the folks who’ve been here? Who are succeeding every day? Do they get attention?”

The guide features more than 150 businesses in the city. The directory can also be viewed on Detroit’s website.
