The Oakland County Clerk is offering a new property record alert system to prevent fraud.

The Oakland County Clerk has launched a “Property Record Notification system” to prevent fraud. The service sends e-mails to property owners when anything with their name on it is recorded in the office.

County Clerk and Register of Deeds Lisa Brown says this new system operates like a Google alert.

“Any search term you want to use you can your address, your property identification number your name. And they are done on the daily. So you are finding out in real time once it’s gone through and been reported in our office, then you will get a notification,” Brown says.

The service replaces an older one that did not send frequent or relevant alerts. Brown says this is the first property record alert system in the country.
