The Detroit Public Schools Police Department says crime reports fell 29 percent during the 2014-15 school year. Chief Stacy Brackens says there were fewer thefts, armed robberies, and assaults reported. Brackens tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller a big reason for the decline is his department’s cooperation with other law enforcement agencies. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.

DPSPD is recruiting school patrol volunteers, especially between the hours of 7 a.m and 9 a.m., 2-4 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Interested? Call 313-240-4377
