Oakland Co. Sheriff Takes Facebook to Task
Mike Bouchard says site removed his posts questioning anti-police content.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is fighting with Facebook over its content. He says the social media site permits anti-police rhetoric on its pages, but removed his posts saying such content promotes violence against law enforcement. Bouchard also called out Amazon for selling a t-shirt with an anti-police message on it. Amazon has since removed the item from its site. The sheriff tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller he’s not trying to stifle anyone’s free speech rights. Facebook issued a statement saying it will remove posts threatening police officers if users report them. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
