Construction has been suspended on most state roads for Labor Day weekend. The Michigan Department of Transportation says drivers must still obey traffic laws where road work is underway.

MDOT Spokesperson Jeff Cranson says traffic restrictions will be removed in most construction zones.

“You can use all the lanes and in everywhere else. The work will at least be stopped,” Cranson says.  “And then for the most part in expressways, there will often be two lanes open, there may be some traffic shifts meaning you will have to cross over.”

Cranson says construction will resume at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
