The EPA is Developing an App to Inform Residents about Algal Blooms

The EPA hopes to make information about cyanobacteria levels more accessible.

Environmental Protection Agency developers are working to make information about water quality more transparent. A mobile app is in the works to report on cyanobacteria levels in bodies of water across the country. EPA research ecologist Blake Schaeffer spoke with WDET’s Marissa Gawel about the new software. He says the goal is to make it like a weather app, but for water.
