Greenfield Village is hosting a throwback baseball tournament this weekend. Modeled off the World’s Base Ball Tournament of 1867 in Detroit, 16 vintage teams are gathering to celebrate the sport. Jeffrey Koslowski plays for the Greenfield Village Lah-De-Dahs. He says the games will be a bit more competitive than they were during the 19th century.

“Baseball in this period is supposed to be doing things for the glory of the game, and not doing things for your own personal benefit. But when you put a shiny trophy in front of a group of guys, we want to play as best we can for it.”

-Jeffrey Koslowski

Koslowski says players will follow the rules of 1867, like only pitching underhand and allowing foul balls to bounce once before catching them. Games run this weekend at Greenfield Village.
