Plans for Shuttle Bus Service to DTW on Hold

An express shuttle bus system that would connect suburbs to Detroit Metro Airport is delayed.

A plan to launch an express shuttle bus system connecting the tri-county area to the Detroit Metro Airport is delayed. The Regional Transit Authority is researching efficient routes to bring residents from Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties to DTW.

However, RTA spokesperson Travis Gonyou says they have yet to find a vendor.

“We didn’t receive any to our RFP we put out through the month of July for support airport service,” Gonyou says. “So we have put it temporarily on hold. We have definitely not given up on this service.”

Gonyou says the Authority’s next step is to readjust its request to attract offers. He could not provide a new launch date.
