M-50 Over River Raisin Closed Due to Flood
The M-50 bridge in the Village of Dundee has been closed until further notice because of rising water.
The M-50 bridge over the River Raisin in Dundee is closed because of flooding. Water levels rose quickly and covered some roads in the village after heavy rains over the weekend.
Dundee Police Sergeant Brett Ansel says village officials aren’t sure when the flooding will subside.
“At this point, it is still on the rise,” Ansel says. “However, it has slowed down. We expect it to crest sometime in the ballpark of 5 and 8 pm. And then obviously at that point we’re hoping to look to see if it will start to come down.”
Ansel says Dundee officials are handing out sandbags to residents to prevent water damage to their homes. He says the police department has called in additional officers and volunteers to help prevent property damage.
