National Weather Service Investigates Tornado Reports

Meteorologists say three twisters probably touched down in Southeast Michigan Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service's Detroit forecast office is in White Lake Township.

The National Weather Service will send investigators to three Southeast Michigan counties to confirm reports of tornadoes Monday night and Tuesday morning. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department says a tornado touched down at 10:08 pm Monday at M-53 and Deckerville Road. An amateur radio operator reported a twister near Millington in Tuscola County at 10:22 pm. And a probable tornado damaged a few homes and farming equipment in Manchester just after 1:30 am Tuesday. NWS Meteorologist Joseph Clark tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the agency had predicted severe weather for Lower Michigan early Monday morning.
