A Detroit neighborhood program dedicated to providing better health options to families is receiving a $75,000 grant.

The Chandler Park Healthy Neighborhood Strategy was created by the Eastside Community Network and other partners.

Network President and CEO Maggie DeSantis says the program is still in its infancy.

“What we received was a planning grant,” DeSantis says. “So the partners will get together and bring other partners to the table and we will look to see how the newly developing environment of Chandler Park can be used to promote healthier outcomes in 48213 community.”

DeSantis says the money will be used to launch the program. She says the planning stage should be completed within the year.
