Organizers in Detroit are planning a conversation about the city’s parallel relationship with the capital of Germany. It’s called the “Detroit-Berlin Connection“, a conference about the common threads between the two cities. Organizer Walter Wasacz says one of those ties is the mutual admiration the German metropolis and the Motor City have for techno music.

“It’s not just about music it’s not just about coming back here and opening a dance club, it’s not just solely a music project. Really, we’re defining techno now as the future.”

Wasacz says a panel will discuss how Detroit can learn from Berlin’s night life policies. The event will take place later this month at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.
