The Detroit Lions beefed up their offensive line Thursday by choosing Duke guard Laken Tomlinson in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The team switched places in the draft order with the Denver Broncos, who traded former Lion offensive lineman Manny Ramirez and two 5th round picks in 2015 and 2016 to Detroit. WDET’s Pat Batcheller asked Detroit News sports reporter and columnist John Niyo why the Lions chose Tomlinson instead of a defensive lineman to fill the loss of free agents Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. Niyo says Detroit needs help on the interior of its offensive line.
