RadioShack closed about 1,700 of its stores this year, but now the majority are reopening in partnership with Sprint. The cellular company is working with RadioShack to share roughly 1,400 retail spaces. Sprint spokesperson Scott Sloat says the new stores more than double the company’s physical footprint.
“It will be a store-within-a-store concept. So that people walk into the store, and about a third of the space will be a Sprint store within the greater RadioShack store. So the Sprint store will offer all of Sprint’s devices and services. It will be staffed by Sprint employees.”
Sloat says 31 Sprint-RadioShacks are opening in Michigan. He says the new company plans to hire about 70 sales workers in the state for the new stores.
