VP Biden will Speak at NAACP Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner

Vice President Joe Biden is the keynote speaker at the NAACP’s Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner

Vice President Joe Biden will deliver the keynote address at the 60th Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner, held by the Detroit Chapter of the N-double-A-C-P. The theme for this year’s dinner, scheduled for May 3rd, is “Celebrating Freedom Measured by Practice…Treasured by Sacrifice.”

The group’s Executive Director, Donnell White, says Biden supports issues like improving law enforcement and creating strong communities—the kind of topics that make up the theme of the dinner.

“There’s a myriad of things that he potentially could lend his voice too,” White says. “So we look forward to hearing that and his message will bring. But certainly he has been a friend to the NAACP, the Detroit community, and we are just honored that he would be a part of the excited surrounding the Freedom Fund Dinner.”

White says the dinner will pay homage to the 50th anniversary of the so-called Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Alabama, which led to the passing of the 1965 voting rights act. The Freedom Fund Dinner will be held at the Cobo Center in Detroit.
