Musicians continue debating the impact of last week’s multi-million dollar jury verdict in favor of Motown singer Marvin Gaye’s family, who alleged one of his songs had been plagiarized.

Some claim the verdict could keep young musicians frozen in litigation if they write material influenced by other singers.

But a man who played on Marvin Gaye’s original song doubts the ruling will change much in the music industry.
