2,000 Detroit Students to Receive Free Tickets to DIA Rivera-Kahlo Exhibit

Bank of America is providing tickets for the DIA’s Kahlo-Rivera exhibit to Title I Detroit schools.

Bank of America is sponsoring two-thousand tickets for students to visit the Detroit Institute of Arts’ newest exhibit. Students from Title I schools will have the chance see the art of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Company spokesperson Diane Wagner says the program is an extension of the bank’s work to help preserve Rivera’s Detroit Industry mural sketches.

“The murals themselves which tell the great story of Diego Rivera, as well as Frida Kahlo, which is the exhibition, is very instrumental, because the illustrations in the mural, really depict the life, what the common man is all about. And we feel the art has the unique ability to educate and inspire both young and old.”

Wagner says Detroit Public School administrators will distribute the tickets. The exhibit opens March 15th.
