February Freeze Ranks Among Detroit’s Coldest Months Ever

The average daily temperature was about 14 degrees. It was also the 7th-snowiest February in Metro Detroit.

This was a very stable weather pattern. We saw it last winter, and unfortunately, we saw it in the month of February.

February was the fifth coldest month ever in Metro Detroit. The average daily temperature wasabout 14 degrees, making it the coldest February the region has seen since 1875. National Weather Service meteorologist Rich Pollman tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller why it was so cold.
