GOP Strategist Ana Navarro: Time for Republicans To Launch Full Russia Investigation

“(Sessions) lied to the U.S. senate, under oath… that’s a very serious matter that again should bother all of us.”

Amid calls from top Democrats in Congress to resign, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigations into President Trump’s 2016 campaign. That is after news broke that he failed to tell the whole truth under oath about his meetings with Russian officials.

CNN reporter Ana Navarro tells Detroit Today producer Jake Neher it’s not enough for Sessions to just recuse himself. She says a full, independent investigation into the administration’s interactions with Russia is necessary.

“I think it’s becoming increasingly more difficult for Republicans not to hold very exhaustive investigation on the entire Russia issue,” Navarro says.

“This should not be a partisan issue. It is about protecting the integrity of our democracy,” Navarro says. “Everybody should be concerned about maintaining that integrity and getting to the bottom of what exactly happened.”

Navarro feels it could be difficult for Sessions to do his job as attorney general after being compromised in this situation.
