Listen to Matthew Dear’s Song Sampling the Ford Mustang Mach-E

The sounds of Ford Motor Co.’s new all-electric Mustang has been turned into, fittingly, an electronic music song by local musician Matthew Dear.

The all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E has a unique back story. Engineers had their work cut out to create a vehicle that sounded as good as it looked — honoring the legacy of gas-powered Mustangs that came before it.

The Mustang Mach-E sounds like a sci-fi fantasy.

“What does electric power mean to people?” asks Brian Schabel, a noise, vibration and harness engineer for Ford Motor Company. “We want to make sure we are paying tribute to the Mustang and what it was.”

And it inspired Detroit-based electronic music artist Matthew Dear, seen above with the Mach-E to transform its sound into song. Dear’s “New Breed” is now streaming online.

Schabel spoke with WDET’s Tia Graham about the latest edition to the Mustang family and how it inspired a song.

Dear “mixed up all the components of the vehicle and really made a remix that brought a smile to my face,” Schabel says.
