Michigan’s U.S. Senate race in 2020 is turning into one of the most hard-fought contests in the country.

Senator Gary Peters has served one term in the chamber and has made a name for himself as ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee.

He’s facing Republican challenger John James, a Farmington Hills businessman and Iraq War veteran who lost his bid two years ago to unseat Senator Debbie Stabenow.

Detroit News Editorial Page Editor Nolan Finley and Detroit Today’s Stephen Henderson had the chance to speak with both candidates during the Detroit Regional Chamber’s MPC20 Conversations series.

Listen: Peters, James in conversation with Nolan Finley and Stephen Henderson.
