In June 2016, Detroit Today’s Stephen Henderson had a fascinating conversation about the eerie similarities between then-candidate Donald Trump and President Zachary Taylor.

Now in October of 2020, Henderson sits back down with his guest for that conversation to talk about whether or not the similarities continued over the last four years.

Listen: The 19th century U.S. President that reminds us of Trump.

McGill University presidential historian Gil Troy joins Henderson to reflect back on the 2016 piece he had written for Politico, titled “How An Outsider President Killed a Party.”

Now, after almost a full term of Donald Trump in the White House, Troy says the similarities in how both men branded their respective parties during their presidential tenures is clear.
