‘Stardust at the Senate’ Celebrates Life and Legacy of David Bowie

The event aims to commemorate the famed artist three years after his death. It’s in its second year at the Senate Theater.

David Bowie was an artist of many personas – Ziggy Stardust among the most conceptualized and glamorous of his alter egos. The style and sound was eccentric, enigmatic and expressive.

And, of course, very memorable.

“David Bowie represents someone who had a lot of influence and a very fluid identity that I think had so many incarnations that everyone relates to him in some capacity,” says Zoe Villegas, volunteer at the historic Senate Theater in Detroit.

On Saturday, January 11, Villegas and fellow volunteer Lindsay Robillard will host “Stardust at the Senate”, an event that pays tribute to the legacy of Bowie, who passed on January 10, 2016.

Now in its second year, the one-night celebration features an art show, Rock ‘n Roll Panel, screening of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and then event-goers party.

“I think that it’s important to remember the people who help us to become who we are,” Villegas says. “David Bowie has that impact on people. [He was] just a universal figure.”
