101.9 WDET presents Season 3 of the Twisted Storytellers Podcast. The podcast features a diverse cast of Detroit area storytellers who perform live to sold-out audiences. This season explores the real-life challenges faced by immigrants and reminds us all what it means to live in a modern day melting pot.

Carlos Nielbock’s father was an African-American U.S. soldier in World War II stationed in Germany after the war, where he met his mother, a white woman.

They fell in love and out came me,” says Nielbock. “The army didn’t like that so much, so they sent him back. I stayed behind with my mother in Germany.”

Years later, Nielbock came to Detroit in search of his father, but ended up discovering a home.
