Throwback Hits Released in May For Your Summer Jams

Livin’ la vida loca? Maybe in May. The start of the warmer months is also the start of a search for a summer jam. But don’t think that means there’s a consistent sound.

In 1999, Ricky Martin released his first English-language album in May, earning him the moniker, ‘The Latin King of Pop.’ But ten years after that, in May of 2009, it was Eminem’s Relapse that dominated the charts.

WDET’s Rob Reinhart winds back through the decades to revisit momentous May releases.
