Why Michigan Republicans Voted to Ban an Abortion Procedure

Republicans in a number of states are pursuing bills they hope will set the stage for a Roe v. Wade challenge in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Republican lawmakers are advancing bills in the state Legislature that would ban a type of abortion procedure

Rick Pluta of the Michigan Public Radio Network reports:

“Majorities in the House and the Senate adopted bills Tuesday to outlaw the dilation-and-evacuation procedure. It is typically used in second-trimester abortions… Gov. Whitmer says she will veto the bills if and when they reach her desk. Republican majorities in other state legislatures have also adopted or proposed new anti-abortion measures. They’re hoping the US Supreme Court will take up a new case to challenge the Roe versus Wade decision.”
