MichMash: Whitmer Wastes No Time Changing Policy

Cheyna Roth and Jake Neher say it might be a while still before it’s clear what divided government in Michigan will look like.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is wasting no time in her new role when it comes to making policy changes.

She has signed a number of executive directives hitting issues such as water contamination and government ethics.

In addition, she’s asking new Attorney General Dana Nessel — a Democrat — to review the constitutionality of controversial laws approved last month by the Republican Legislature and former Gov. Rick Snyder during the contentious lame duck session.

As part of the weekly series MichMash, Cheyna Roth and Jake Neher say it might be a while before it’s clear how Republican lawmakers will respond, and what divided government in Michigan will look like.
