Click the audio player to listen.
Before you even see Deon Forest you can hear the tinkling of his cast iron salad bowls followed by the deep beat his bucket bass drums. The musician’s catchy rhythm is the underlying beat of Eastern Market’s soundtrack. WDET food journalism fellow Brittany Hutson spoke with him about his past and what led him to playing each Saturday at Eastern Market.

The audio was captured and introduced by journalist Brittany Hutson who is a Feet in 2 Worlds Food Journalism Fellow at WDET.
