The 2018 Christmas tree — a REAL one — in Downtown Detroit’s Campus Martius Park.

It’s become a national Christmas tradition to debate the virtues of real trees and fake trees. We here at Detroit Today like to honor some holiday traditions, and this is one of them.

WDET’s Pat Batcheller and Laura Weber-Davis join Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson to defend their choice of tree. Pat prefers his fake tree family heirloom, Laura likes all of the hassle of a real tree.

Which do you put up in your house for Christmas — a real tree or a fake tree?

Do you love the smell of a real pine, or do you hate having to clean up pine needles?

Do you love the convenience of a fake tree, or do prefer to go on an annual hunt for the perfect tree from a tree lot?
