The longest-serving member in the history of Congress, former U.S. Rep. John Dingell of Michigan, says he may be released from the hospital soon after suffering an apparent heart attack.
The 92-year-old former Congressman was hospitalized last week.
Dingell left a U-S House he said had grown “obnoxious” in 2015 after six decades on Capitol Hill and has taken to Twitter since then to vent about politics and sports.
He wrote shortly after he began being treated for heart attack symptoms that “rumors of my demise may have only been slightly exaggerated.”
He now writes that he may be released this week.
He also tweeted before the Detroit Lions game against the New England Patriots this weekend,”God grant me the strength to make it through this Lions game,” and added after Detroit’s stunning victory, ”Who is this team and what have they done with my Lions?”
