Since 2013, filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and composer Carter Loga have been releasing experimental rock music as SQÜRL.

Since 2013, critically acclaimed filmmaker Jim Jarmusch has been releasing ambient drone and experimental rock music with his band, SQÜRL. The iconic director is known for his films Broken Flowers, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Only Lovers Left Alive, his 2014 vampire love story set in Detroit and Tangiers.

On Thursday, November 2 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, SQÜRL will perform a live soundtrack for the films of Man Ray.  CultureShift’s Amanda LeClaire spoke with Jarmusch and fellow SQÜRL member Carter Logan about their creative process when writing soundtracks and why they chose the number 260 as the title of their most recent EP.
